TOLHURST, Richard Edward June 8, 1925 - April 4, 2011 With sadness Gerri and family say farewell. Dick quietly passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Comox, in the company of loved ones. Our sincere thanks to the wonderful staff in emergency and conscientious compassionate palliative care for his last 5 days. Dick’s life was guided by his unending love of the sea. He retired at age 56 as Senior Vice-President of Seaspan International (Vancouver Tug) and was delighted to be appointed a member of the Pacific Pilotage Authority enabling him to maintain his interest in the Marine industry and continue some wonderful friendships. He was on the board of the Pacific Marine Institute and a long time member of the company of Master Mariners of Canada and the Burma Star Association. For many years Dick was an active Mason. Dick looked forward to the monthly Ancient Mariner get togethers in Chemainus with some best friends and many associates as well, the Old Salts weekly luncheon at the Lorne Hotel, Young Glenn and the other Kids took such good care of him. The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Desmond Konway for all his years of care. There will not be a formal service as per Richards request. Piercy’s / Mt.
