MACKENZIE, Kenneth
Passed away on April 21, 2013 at Eagle Ridge Hospital. Predeceased by his wife, Dorothy, and his brothers Ramsay and John. Ken will be remembered by his daughter Linda, granddaughter Shonia (Steve) Pena, great- grandchildren Payge and Maiya, grandson Shane (Jennifer), great-grandchildren Oaklyn and Riley; son Capt. Tim (Gordon) (Rose), grandson Capt. Curtis (Sheri), great-grandchildren Colby, Brett and Brooke, grandson Capt. John (Diandra), great-grandchildren Cole and Blair and grandson Capt. Kenny. Ken’s brothers Alister and Gordon, dear friend Tammy Hughes (Brad) Dustin and Jordan as well as his “Hawaiian” family, extended family, friends, and “The Crew,” with whom Pa enjoyed a special bond, all were considered part of his family. Born in Mission, Pa was raised in Port Coquitlam, where he started Harken Towing. He and Dorothy continued to run Harken, making their home, and raising their family on the banks of the Pitt River. Three generations have worked at Harken Towing and call the river “home.” Until the end, Pa made daily appearances at the office, and enjoyed his garden, fishing (he did catch “Walter”), and travel. Throughout his life, Pa enjoyed numerous cruises, a flight on the Concord, and of course, Maui. He made many life- long friends along the way. Pa leaves us with a “twinkle” in his eye, and a legacy of lessons, values, and ethics. He made his final journey in peace, and with the same dignity with which he lived. Pa will be missed by all. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Tammy Hughes, Ian and Betty Anne Berry, Maria Villacis, and cousins Jack and Marg Bowie and the staff at Eagle Ridge (Ward C2B). Reflection of Ken will be at Red Robinson Theatre, 2080 United Way, Coquitlam, on Thursday, May 9, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation, 475 Guildford Way, Port Moody, B.C.
