CULLINAN - CPT. Walter Arnold July 26, 1925 - December 9, 2009 Captain Walter Arnold Cullinan passed away peacefully December 9, 2009 at Eagle Ridge Hospital in Port Moody at the age of 84. Walter will be lovingly remembered by his wife Walna and profoundly missed by family Toni (Scott), Rhondda (Ken), Len (Sue) and grandchildren Todd (Kristin), Nicole (Richard), Cole (Meghann), Eric, Lenae and Rylie, and faithful pet Skipper. He is survived by his brother Martin Higgs, and predeceased by brothers Joe Higgs and Johnny Higgs and sister Dorothy Purcell. He was born in Vancouver and was raised in Nanaimo, where he lived and worked on the sea. He pursued his career with Straights Towing, achieving BC Coast Pilot status in 1972. Walter then contributed 18 years of service until retiring in 1990 at which point he resided in Port Moody. Walter was a member of the Doric Lodge No. 18 for 50 years. Memorial service will be held Dec.19, 2009 at 10:00 am at Burquitlam Funeral Home, 625 North Road, Coquitlam. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
