Paul Winston Delano Sigurgeirson October 16, 1941 - September 4, 2016
Paul passed away on Sept. 4 from cancer. Paul was born in Winnipeg MB on Oct. 16, 1941 - a Lake Winnipeg Icelander from Hecla. His family moved to Steveston in 1943 and Paul lived there for most of his life. At 12 years old, Paul went fishing for the first time on the Ladner Lass with Harry Moon and he ended his 48 year career as chief engineer on the Seaspan tug, the Comox Crown. Over the years, Paul entertained many with his colorful stories of old Steveston and his shop door was always open to help out friends, family and neighbours. Paul was predeceased by his father Sigurgeir (Geiri), his mother Victoria, his sisters Victoria and Diana, and his brother Bill. He is survived by his wife, Airi, his sons Karl and Helgi (Michele), his daughter Mandy (Chris), his sister Elin (Ross) and his brother Darwin. Also, by his six grandchildren Kyle, Chloris, Soren, Avalon, Annika and Leifur. We invite you to join us in a celebration of Paul’s life on Sunday September 18 from 1-4 p.m. at the Seine Net Loft in the Brittania Shipyards, 12451 Trites Road, Richmond. The family would like to thank the staff at the Rotary Richmond Hospice where he spent his final days. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Paul’s name to the Salvation Army Rotary Hospice House would be appreciated. So long to an old Steveston boy.
