Robert D. MacDonald, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on June 11th, 2016 from an infection while battling liver cancer.
Bob was born on May 1st, 1934 in Stellarton, NS. He left home at age 16 and came to Victoria, quickly embarking on a career at sea spending 42 years on Towboats with Island Tug and Barge and Seaspan International retiring as Captain in 1999. Bob had many great adventures at sea and was one of the last surviving crew members of the famous Sudbury sailings across the Pacific.
Bob loved his family dearly and was very giving, patient, hard-working and selfless. He was a devoted husband and father.
Bob was predeceased by his loving wife Shelly in 2014. He is survived by his 4 children, 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to the nurses, attendants and Doctors at VGH, your care and compassion will never be forgotten.
We will miss you Dad.
