It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Eveleigh on November 29, 2016.
John was born on July 29, 1923 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and was married to June Isobel Burns in Vancouver who passed away there in 2009. John will be missed greatly by his son David and daughter-in-law Barbara, his daughter Marina and son-in-law Faron, and his four grandchildren Brandon, Tyler, Nathan, and Ryan.
John loved the sea and spent his early career starting out as a kitchen helper and rising to the position of Captain. He then spent the remainder of his career as a marine pilot. John will be remembered for his great sense of humour and love of travel and life. He contributed generously to the community and charitable organizations. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
A funeral service will take place at St. Faith’s Anglican Church at 7284 Cypress Street, Vancouver, on Saturday, December 17, at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Covenant House would be appreciated.
