It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our father at St. Michael’s Hospice after a short battle with cancer. Dad was predeceased by his wife Bunny (1995), his parents and 9 siblings. Harold is survived by Jackie, his close companion for 10 years; children Cecile (Wayne), Ed (Kay), Ron (Dianne) & Wendy (Richard); 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Harold served Canada in Europe with the Seaforth Highlanders during the Second World War and upon returning to Vancouver eventually settled into the Tugboat industry working at The Gulf of Georgia Towing Company and later Seaspan in many capacities including Chief Engineer & Captain until his retirement in 1990 after more than 40 years. Special thanks to Jackie for her strength, she ensured Dad was as comfortable as possible over the past few very difficult weeks. Our sincere appreciation goes out to the staff at both St. Michael’s & Burnaby General and in particular Stephanie who was a joy for Dad when he needed it most. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday July 8th, 2010 at Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby. In lieu of flowers donations to Canuck Place would be appreciated.
