CHIVERS _ Capt. Gary April 1, 1940 - June 10, 2005 Captain Gary Chivers passed away peacefully at Dr. Helmeken Memorial Hospital in Clearwater, BC, after a courageous battle with cancer. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Donna, son Lance (Penny) and grandchildren Danny and Lisa, as well as his sister Mary (Dale) Richardson and nieces Shelley, Laura and Kimberley and great-nieces Hailey and Jessica, all of Nova Scotia, sister-in-law Sylvia Chivers, niece Pam (Andy) Milburn and grand nephews Connor, Reagan and Brady, niece Chris (Ralph) Michell and great-nieces Hannah and Gillian, all of Kamloops, BC. Gary was predeceased by his brother Dan, in 1999. He was a legend in his own time in the Tow Boating Industry for over 50 years. Gary lived his life to the fullest, enjoying working the ranch and especially his family and many, many friends. His greatest attribute on the boats was being known for his patience and love of teaching the marine trade. Gary’s passing will leave a void in the lives of so many who loved him for his compassion for life. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Cancer Clinic, Royal Inland Hospital and Barriere Diagnostic Centre for their kindness and care. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fall Fair Hall in Barriere. Donations may be made, in Gary’s memory, to Canadian Cancer Society.
