MULAND Captain Alfred William March 13, 1928 - January 17, 2005 Al passed away suddenly at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital on Monday, January 17, 2005. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 44 years, Lila; sons, Douglas (Andrea) of Langley and Alan (Joanne) of Maple Ridge; daughters, Michele (Bruce) Chaplin of Aldergrove, Katherine (Justin) of Bristol, England; seven grandsons, Kyle, Corey and Derek (Chaplin); Cole and Declan (Smuland) and Cameron and Eric (Smuland); two granddaughters, Lily and Samantha (Ogilvie). He is also survived by two brothers, Floyd in Oliver and Lorne in Red Deer, his sister June (Morris) in Calgary; plus many extended family members. Al was born in Springside, Saskatchewan. He moved to Vancouver and attended Grandview and Vancouver Tech High Schools. He joined the RCAF and later pursued his flying career with Beban Logging and Pacific Western Airlines. He also worked for many years as a Master Mariner for companies such as Coyle Navigation and Seaspan. Al has been an active member of Master Mariners of Canada and the Retired Airline Pilots Association. There will be no service by his own request.
