Captain Charles Harrah was born in Williams Lake, B.C. on December 31, 1935 and passed away on October 8, 2013 in Kamloops, B.C., his current city of residence. Captain Harrah is survived by his wife Cleo Harrah and his three children, Chris Harrah of Kamloops, Charlene Lavezzoli of Rohnert Park, California and Gwen Bennett of Dallas, Texas. Captain Harrah began his maritime career with RivTow Straits on Harrison Lake, B.C. in 1954 and went on to earn his Master’s Ticket in 1967. Chuck enjoyed a long career with RivTow that provided him the opportunity to Captain a variety of ocean vessels up and down the coast of North America and to the Aleutian Islands. His love of the sea never waned in all his years at the helm, nor did his love for this crew and family. Chuck moved to Sheraton Lake in 1981 where he could fish and hunt with his son and grandsons, followed by a move to Kamloops in 2005. Chuck is also survived by his siblings, Newton Harrah of Burnaby, B.C., Verna Wallace of Banning, California and Dorothy Stith of Surrey, B.C. and thirteen grandchildren all of whom will miss him terribly. An open house at Chuck and Cleo’s residence at 2022 #86 Pacific Way, Kamloops, B.C., is scheduled for Friday, October 11, 2013. If you would like to come by the house, it will be open for visitors from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm.
