**ATTRIDGE, Roger Jeffery **Roger passed away on November 9, 2017 in Ajijic Jalisco Mexico. He had Myelodysplasia syndrome, and this was the contributing factor to his death. Roger was the son of Archie Attridge and Kathleen Smythe of Midland Ontario, and even though he moved to many places in Canada, including the last twenty years in Vancouver, he always considered Midland his home. His spouse of twenty-five years was Elizabeth Durham of Toronto, they enjoyed a wonderful life together and traveled extensively. They settled in the Lake Chapala area of Mexico four years ago, enjoying a great retirement there. Roger was father to Bil Attridge and his wife Unika of Victoria B.C; and grandfather to Calvin, Trevor, Darien and Jake. His daughter, Kelly Attridge predeceased him in March of this year. His offspring have been very successful in all their undertakings and Roger was very proud of them. After high school Roger sailed the Great Lakes on and off for five years. He came ashore and had a twenty-eight-year career in business management including District Management with Cole’s book stores and Radio Shack. At age 53, Roger returned to the sea sailing on coastal tugboats out of Vancouver. At age 55, he went back to school and obtained his 1st Mates ticket and Coastal Master’s ticket. This was to be the dream vocation for Roger. In retirement he enjoyed working part-time running the pilot boat in Vancouver harbour. Roger always considered himself fortunate to maintain many long-term friendships personally and through his professions. No service by request, his ashes will be thrown to sea.
