69, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 30, 2017 surrounded by close family at the Normanna Care Home in Burnaby. He is survived by daughters, Veronica and Michelle, grandchildren Hudson and Logan, brother Trond (Carmen), nephew Ivar and niece Karina. Arve was born on October 7, 1948 in A i Lofoten, Moskenes, Norway to Otto and Svandhild (Mathissen) Nilsen. He was the youngest of 5 brothers, Ingolf, Nils-Erik (Anne-Mari), Arnt (Ranghild), Trond (Carmen), and 2 younger sisters Ranghild (Yngve) and Wenche (Kjell). He was an uncle to many nieces and nephews residing in Norway. He served 35 years as a deckhand for Seaspan. He always had a passion for the sea life and truly enjoyed his work. Arve was always up to date with current world events and loved sharing stories with friends and family. Arve will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by family and friends. Visitation will be on Monday, December 11, 6-8 p.m., and his memorial will follow on December 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 14660-72nd. Avenue, Surrey, BC.
