WOOD Captain Alan Passed away November 22, 2009 at the age of 81. Survived by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn, his children, Liz, Alan, Mairi (Patrick), Barbara (Shan) and his three grandsons, Matthew, Spencer and James. A master mariner, Al spent many years on west coast waters as a tug boat captain, over 25 of those with Cates Towing. He resided with his family in North Vancouver for the last 40 years. We gratefully acknowledge the exceptional care and support of the doctors and nurses at the Vancouver Cancer Agency and the North Shore Palliative Home Care Support team. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Al’s name to the Cancer Agency to help fund research for prostate cancer.
